HR Intern
HR & Admin

Start Date: Q1
Your Position
We are looking for a HR Intern to support HR Operations and Talent Acquisition during a high‑growth period at KITRO. This internship is a hands-on, learning-focused role where you will help with systems, documentation, onboarding/offboarding, people cycles, and recruitment coordination in a fast-growing food-waste reduction startup.
You will work closely with the Head of HR and the broader team to ensure our people processes run smoothly, employees have a consistent experience, and hiring activities are well organised. This internship is ideal for a student or recent graduate who wants to build a career in HR and Talent Acquisition, gain exposure to the full employee lifecycle, and contribute to a purpose-driven company in the sustainability and hospitality space.
Responsibilities
People operations support
Help keep employee data and documents accurate and organised in our HR systems (Personio and related tools), including contracts, absences and basic employee changes.
Support day-to-day HR administration such as preparing simple letters and templates, filing digital documents, and helping maintain audit-ready records.
Payroll & time tracking support
Assist with tracking working hours and timesheets, following up with employees and managers when information is missing or inconsistent.
Prepare basic overviews of monthly changes (e.g. new joiners, leavers, updates) for payroll input under the guidance of the Head of HR or HR Manager.
People cycles & engagement
Help coordinate KITRO’s regular people rhythms such as quarterly team meetings, engagement surveys, and follow-up actions (e.g. tracking responses, notes, and action lists).
Support internal communications such as birthday messages, key announcements, and small recognition initiatives that reinforce KITRO’s culture and mission.
Talent acquisition coordination
Support recruitment activities for internships and junior to mid-level roles: posting job ads, screening CVs against defined criteria, and scheduling interviews.
Maintain structured candidate pipelines in our ATS/Personio, update candidate statuses, and ensure timely communication with candidates together with hiring managers.
Join screening calls where appropriate, learn how to assess basic skills and values alignment, and prepare shortlists for the Head of HR or hiring managers.
Employee lifecycle & onboarding
Help coordinate onboarding and offboarding checklists, including systems access, document collection, welcome communication, and induction logistics.
Track probation milestones in our systems and support feedback collection from managers and new joiners to continuously improve the experience.
Skills
Must-haves
Currently studying or recently graduated in HR, Business, Psychology, Hospitality Management, Sustainability, or a related field, with an interest in People/HR as a career path.
Strong organisational skills and comfort working with digital tools (e.g. spreadsheets, HR or ATS systems, Google Workspace).
Clear, concise written and verbal communication in English; additional European languages are a plus.
Ability to manage multiple small tasks, follow checklists, and ask for clarification when needed.
High sense of ownership, reliability, and attention to detail, especially when working with confidential data.
Strong alignment with KITRO’s mission to reduce food waste and passion for sustainability, hospitality, or food-tech.
Nice to Have Skills
Previous internship or student work experience in HR, recruiting, hospitality operations, or office administration.
Familiarity with any HRIS/ATS (e.g. Personio, Greenhouse, Workable) or payroll/benefits processes.
Experience working in a startup, scale-up, or fast-paced environment with diverse international teams.
