Your Position
The Embedded Systems department is a small team. So as a Head of this department a majority of our tasks will still be hands-on but you will also be required to manage the team (1-2 ES engineers), define the department strategy (short, mid, and long term) and targets in collaboration with our CTO, and manage department budget.
Responsibilities
You will own the end-to-end reliability and evolution of our embedded systems, combining mechanical and electrical design with embedded software expertise to deliver robust, production-ready solutions. You will drive continuous improvements to system reliability and functionality, leveraging modern IoT and fleet management tools to monitor and optimize an active device fleet. In this role, you will lead the development of test prototypes and test benches, oversee certification and compliance processes, and ensure all systems meet regulatory and quality requirements. You will also collaborate closely with external suppliers and contract manufacturers to guarantee stable, high-quality production, while providing operational support to maintain long-term performance in the field.
What is required?
Team management experience (must have)
+ 5 years of experience in a similar role
Completed degree in electrical engineering or similar
Experience in embedded software development combining embedded Linux (Yocto), Python and Docker
Experience with AWS and its interaction with an IoT device is an advantage
Experience in PCB development (concept, schematic, layout, production preparation) as an advantage
The onboarding process will be easier if you already have experience with our tools (KiCAD, Jira, Confluence, Git, Fusion 360)
You like to plan and tackle your tasks independently in order to achieve the best results. At the same time, you never forget the big picture and like to think outside the box.
You show a sense of responsibility and decisiveness in your work during the complete product lifecycle
Good English skills (speaking and writing), German is a plus.
