Kitro and Vila Galé join forces to reduce food waste with artificial intelligence
Portuguese business outlet Jornal Económico covers KITRO’s new pilot partnership with hotel group Vila Galé, which will deploy KITRO’s camera-and-scale system across group properties to build more precise data on discarded food and inform decisions on production, purchasing, menus, and buffet management.
Vila Galé administrator Gonçalo Rebelo de Almeida frames the partnership as part of the group’s broader sustainability push, and KITRO’s Iberian market lead, Francisco Ribeiro Corrêa, connects reliable waste data directly to operational efficiency.
The piece also cites KITRO’s existing results with Pestana Hotel Group in Portugal — a roughly 50% reduction in food waste in the first year, avoiding about 30 tonnes of waste and generating around EUR 300,000 in savings.
